Jonathan King has been a resident of Maywood, New Jersey since 2001. He graduated in 1990 from Duke University in Durham, NC with a BA in History.
A professional musician performing in various parts of the country for much of his career, Jonathan and his wife, Erica King, worked together to pursue his law degree, which he obtained from the Rutgers University School of Law - Newark in 2008. During law school, Jonathan worked as a clerk for the North Jersey Media Group, publishers of The Record. While at Rutgers, Jonathan made law review and was honored to serve as Senior Articles Editor. Jonathan is admitted to the Bars of New Jersey and New York, and currently practices law as an associate attorney with Porzio, Bromberg, and Newman P. C. in Morristown, focusing on commercial and residential real estate.
In his professional capacity, Jonathan has worked with local governments across Bergen, Passaic and Essex Counties on construction, environmental, property tax and other real estate-related matters. Representations range from handling homeowners' property tax appeals in Maywood, to counseling a radio station leasing property from EnCap, to assisting in private acquisition of an interest in World Trade Center One from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In a pro bono capacity, Jonathan has assisted Maywood homeowners with foreclosure and landlord-tenant issues. He is also a former Maywood Shade Tree Commission member. .
